The Mario Querci Trophy Show is to be held on 30th September 2007: The main judge for Mastino is Dr Luigi Di Casola.

The Mario Querci Trophy Show 30/09/07 in Italy

Rayvonley Lion “Leo” the home bred giant is the first home bred Mastino ever to be shown in Italy, owner/breeder Steve Cox took him along side Hartu Della Kolimbetra of Rayvonley both 3 years old and entered them into the Libera class which is our equivalent to open.

The class had a record 30 dogs entered with no absentees, it was so huge it had to be split into to halves then the process of elimination began. After a 3 hour battle Leo and Hartu where pulled out and short listed into the final ten dogs, Leo came 8th and Hartu picked up a podium 5th and walked away with a nice trophy. The judge made reference to Leo’s ears as all the other dogs but one from Holland had cropped ears, he said that Leo was a huge dog of strong proportions but the ears when hanging made his head look a little to much skin for him around the face. Hartu received “Excellent” and 5th place this is an official placing that was then recorded in his show book. Kim Slater from the UK received 4th with her male Sancho in the young class who was shown by the breeder Carlos from Spain. All in all a fantastic show with all the leading names in Mastino attending.
